These bearings are designed to offer a combination of strength, lightweight, corrosion resistance, and durability, making them an ideal choice for high-performance and specialized applications.

 

1.Material Composition: Titanium steel bearings generally consist of a titanium alloy (such as Ti-6Al-4V) combined with steel components. This could mean a titanium alloy housing or outer race with steel balls or inner races, or it could involve a hybrid material combining titanium and steel for the entire bearing structure.

2.Density: The density of titanium alloys is typically around 4.43 g/cm³, which is lower than steel (around 7.85 g/cm³), offering weight savings while still maintaining strength. The steel components of the bearing may increase the density, but it remains relatively lightweight compared to pure steel bearings.

3.Tensile Strength: Titanium alloy components typically offer a tensile strength of about 900 MPa to 1,200 MPa, while steel may range from 400 MPa to 1,500 MPa depending on the grade. The combination of both materials ensures a bearing with high strength and resistance to deformation under heavy loads.

4.Yield Strength: The yield strength of titanium alloy is generally in the range of 800 MPa to 1,100 MPa, while steel can have yield strengths from 250 MPa to 1,200 MPa, depending on the grade. Titanium-steel hybrid bearings balance the strength of both materials, optimizing them for high-load and high-stress environments.

5.Hardness: Titanium alloys generally have a hardness of around 300–400 HV (Vickers hardness), while steel can vary depending on the treatment but typically has a hardness of 500–700 HV. Titanium-steel bearings are often treated to achieve the optimal hardness for wear resistance and durability

6.Corrosion Resistance: One of the key advantages of titanium is its excellent corrosion resistance, especially in harsh environments such as marine or aerospace applications. Titanium alloy shafts and races are highly resistant to oxidation, pitting, and galvanic corrosion. Steel components may be coated or treated to improve corrosion resistance, but they generally don't match titanium in this regard.

7.Temperature Resistance: Titanium alloys can withstand high temperatures, with a melting point of around 1,660°C (3,020°F). Steel's temperature resistance varies based on alloy, but it generally ranges from 600°C to 1,400°C. Titanium-steel bearings are well-suited for applications that experience wide temperature fluctuations or elevated heat.

8.Coefficient of Friction: The coefficient of friction for titanium-steel bearings typically ranges from 0.05 to 0.15, depending on the specific design and lubrication used. This is lower than that of standard steel bearings, making titanium-steel bearings advantageous for applications requiring reduced friction and less wear.

9.Wear Resistance: Titanium alloys, when combined with steel, provide high wear resistance, reducing the likelihood of surface degradation or fatigue in the bearing's operating life. The steel components, typically treated or hardened, contribute to maintaining the bearing's function under high-load conditions.

10.Load Capacity: Titanium-steel bearings can handle heavy radial and axial loads, especially when made with high-quality titanium alloys and hardened steel. These bearings are designed to perform under extreme mechanical stress, often found in aerospace, automotive, and industrial machinery.

11.Lubrication: These bearings often require proper lubrication to minimize friction and wear. Depending on the application, they may use oil, grease, or specialized lubricants to maintain smooth operation, especially in high-temperature or high-speed conditions.
